Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American dancer and actress. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals including Wicked and Legally Blonde, and Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael. She was in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with actors, directors, and directors on the stage and on screen throughout her entire career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani, Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's latest project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and starring Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. In the form of a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney DTC's platform. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford was a part of Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on a national scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main actors. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the CBS show that was a huge success, B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her portrayal of Essie. Her additional Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the lead role in Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. She was born and raised in Denver Ashford now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
